L5 Descent

Hazard HUD. Hard timers. No clean win.

Reading doors: Act I then Act II. Experience beats walk backward from aftermath toward the founders' motive.

Start at Act I

Beat 1 / 5 · Near-singularity · Aftermath

They'll Be Back

One ship left on the mountain. One scientist taken off it. Reshka Voss stands on the north wall as the second engine-light climbs and vanishes. Marek turns his ruined face to the sky.

Below them, in the vault Earth bled to keep, unmodified stock sits in the cold — necessary to a solution, but not sufficient alone. Reshka thinks of the celebrated child in orbit. Not yet. We haven't caught it yet. To be continued.

Marek

“They'll be back. But not for war.”

Finale hook — they leave with a promise, not a victory.

Beat 2 / 5 · Neuroshield · Lingering dead

The Choir Won't Clear

The Neuroshield is not telepathy. It is a cortical implant tied to a suit-borne optical-RF mesh — semantic packets: threat, vitals, intent, position. As the plague progresses, the dying soldiers' packets don't stop. They linger.

The outpost nicknames it the Choir. The living hear the dead as static that won't clear. The frail commanders will not cut the mesh — because their children, living and dead, are on the same channel. Cut it and you kill them twice.

Marek

“It's not words. It's the shape of somebody still being here after they're gone. Like a room that stays warm.”

Neuroshield ≠ Gamma resonance (locked). Choir ≠ Choir Gates. Ambiguous Alphaverse hardware behavior.

Beat 3 / 5 · Earth outpost · Pure DNA theft

Two Ships in the Snow

They don't feel the mountain. Eleven armored shapes, too smooth, not shivering — second-skin suits grown into flesh: radiation shield, nutrient reservoir, oxygenated-perfluorocarbon rebreather. Baseline humans shiver. These don't.

Every objective traces back to one thing: the vault. Not the fusion plant. Not the food. The pure-DNA and embryo store — a node of Dr. Orion's network — and the special donors. They did not come to conquer Earth. They came to not die.

Same pure-DNA network as Million / Orion. Invasion motive = medicine, not empire.

Beat 4 / 5 · L5 colony · Bloomed illness

The Appointment Matured

On L5 the illness is not a mystery. It is the mature expression of a single non-coding marker present in the entire engineered lineage from the beginning — flagged once, decades ago, as within tolerance, and shipped anyway.

Million catches the disease at its first cough. Project L5 is the deathbed. Same edit. Same appointment. The colony is thirty years ahead of Earth on the same clock — which means Earth is looking at its own future in the invaders' failing bodies.

One flaw: Million marker = early; L5 illness = bloomed (locked).

Beat 5 / 5 · Earlier · Founders' line

The Weak Command the Strong

The soldiers are engineered. Their commanders are not. Frail baseline humans — founders' descendants — breathe air, eat food, and order troops built far stronger than themselves.

They ordered the engineering and never underwent it. Now they watch the generation they built die young while they, the makers, live on borrowed frailty. They are parents stealing medicine. Their weakness is the point.

Reshka

“They don't drink. They drink the same cup a thousand times. That's not not-human. That's human with nothing left to waste.”

Unmodified leaders' motive is parental desperation — never cartoon villainy.
